Apply for a Service Dog

We provide highly trained service dogs—free of charge—for individuals with physical disabilities (excluding blindness) and veterans with PTSD who live within 4 hours of Brewster, NY. Each dog is carefully matched to their person and trained to perform mobility and hearing alert tasks that foster greater independence and safety. Due to high demand and limited resources, not all applicants will receive a dog.

Free Service Dogs for Vets

Putnam Service Dogs proudly offers free service dogs to military veterans, including dogs trained for PTSD support. We select and train rescue dogs to meet the unique needs of each veteran and provide ongoing support after placement. While demand exceeds our current resources, we are deeply committed to helping veterans improve their lives with a loyal, trained companion.

Adopt a Released Dog

Our release dogs—highly trained pups who didn’t complete our service dog program—make incredible emotional support animals for individuals with disabilities. These dogs are obedience-trained, housebroken, and ready to uplift a life, though they do not have public access rights. Adoption fees start at $900 and matches are made with care and intention.
